How does
heat impacts you computer? |
|
Computers generate heat -- lots of it. A computer's main processor produces
40-70 watts of heat, as much as a regular incandescent light bulb. Other
computer components generate more heat, and a full-sized desktop PC might
generate 175 watts of heat without the monitor.
Your computer discharges all of that heat to the inside of your house or
apartment, via one or more fans at the front and back of the case. Poor heat
dissipation can cause all kinds of problems, ranging from mysterious and
inexplicable system crashes to major hardware damage. Overheating causes
increased risk of premature failure of processors, chips and disk drives. |
